Randers Big Band was founded in 1980 by Palle Hundborg. The band has since been on a musical journey with Ole Koch Sørensen, Jesper Riis, Nikolai Bøgelund, and Peter Brem as musical directors. In 2021, Nikolai Bøgelund took over the conductor’s role for the second time and is currently directing the band. 

Randers Big Band likes to explore various musical genres and has played with many highly acclaimed soloists. Today, the band is regarded as one of the top big bands in Denmark – especially when it comes to playing traditional swing music.

Over the years, Randers Big Band has participated in many festivals at home and abroad and has traveled on concert tours to Sweden, Finland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, USA, Brazil, Canada and UK, among other places.
